Privacy & Photography
How we look after your information, and how we use photos and videos from our events.
Photos, videos and use of likeness
We often take photos and short videos at Actuaries of Bermuda (AOB) events, and our sponsors and hosts sometimes do too. We use them to report on and promote AOB: on this website, in newsletters and member emails, in our event gallery, on our social media (such as LinkedIn and Instagram), and in material for future events.
By attending an AOB event you agree that you may appear in these photos and videos and that we may use them in this way, without payment. We won't use your image to suggest that you personally endorse a product or company.
Prefer not to be photographed? Just tell the photographer or an AOB committee member at the event. If a photo of you is already online and you'd like it taken down, email info@actuariesbermuda.com and we'll remove it from our website and our own social media accounts as soon as we reasonably can.
Notice board posts that include a photo (for example a member milestone) are only published with the agreement of the person who sent them.
The information we hold
- Membership: your name, email address, membership type and status, and the details you choose to give us (employer, job title, designation, practice area, Bermuda status, LinkedIn).
- Payments: what you paid, when, and the reference. Card payments are handled by our payment provider, Fygaro; we never see or store your card details.
- Events: your registrations, attendance and any event payments.
- Forms and the notice board: what you send us through the website.
How we use it
Only to run AOB: managing memberships and renewals, organising events, sending you membership and event emails, answering your questions, and running the notice board. We never sell your information or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
The services that help us run the site process information on our behalf: Google Firebase (membership database and sign-in), Netlify (website hosting), Amazon SES and Resend (email delivery) and Fygaro (payments). We use Google Analytics to understand how the website is used; it records anonymous browsing statistics, not who you are.
Your choices
- See and update your details any time in My Membership.
- Unsubscribe from news or event emails using the link at the bottom of any of them, or in My Membership. Essential emails (renewal reminders and receipts) still come through while you're a member.
- Ask us what information we hold about you, or to correct or delete it, by emailing info@actuariesbermuda.com.
We handle personal information in line with Bermuda's Personal Information Protection Act 2016 (PIPA). Questions or concerns about privacy go to the AOB committee at info@actuariesbermuda.com.
